Down on the farm at The Blue Door
We were thrilled with our visit from the team at Blackberry farm. Parents couldn’t believe it when their children told them we had a ‘real live cow’ in the garden at The Blue Door Nursery. We also had chickens and goats and rabbits as well as other small animals. The children had been learning about farm animals and had found out about what the animals eat, where they live and how they should be looked after. The Blackberry farm team talked to the children about their farm and the jobs that they do and then we were able to feed the animals and stroke them and spend lots of time getting to know them. Younger brothers and sisters came with their parents to share in the fun and it was a really successful day! The farm gave us some eggs to hatch and we were excited when after a few weeks we had two bantam chicks to look after. The chicks lived in our garden and then we took them back to the farm to be with their friends!
